Fire Protection

The facility is fully sprinkled. It has an automatic sprinkler system with the head upright and flush with plate. Sprinkler coverage is determined from a hydraulically calculated system, designed to provide a density based on NFPA requirements and the requirements of the insurance company and the local authorities.

Sprinkler Coverage Requirements

There will be two pumps located in the cellar; an automated fire pump and a jockey pump. The automated fire pump will have a flow rate of 1000 G.P.M. and the jockey pump of 10 G.P.M. Also there will be a siamese water connection on 119th street and on 3rd Ave.
All structural  steel shall receive sprayed fireproofing unless otherwise noted.  A 1-1/2 hour rating is required at all floor framing with the exception of certain members. A two-hour rating is required for all columns unless it is part of a three-hour rated enclosure. A 1-½ hour fire rated slab-metal deck assembly without sprayed fireproofing is generally required.
